DESCRIPTION: APW – Waltham, "Waltham Standard" with locomotive image on mvt, 19J marked as "19 Ruby Jewels," rare Model 1892, 18S, gold-filled OF Gopher Watch Case Co. recase with attractive floral engraving and design, Gopher image inside case rear is lightly colored in blue, Montgomery white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, lever escapement with capped escape wheel, gilt screws and regulator assembly, swirl pattern nickel damascene, s#10099503. A very rare and attractive Model 1892 variant, total production of this "Waltham Standard" appears to be only 125 made with all coming from a single production run spanning serial numbers 10099501 to 10099625. We believe these 125 watches also have the distinction of being the only Waltham movements to feature an engraved train image. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO...
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with some mild micro-fine scratches, small marring of escape wheel jewel setting; dial has outer chapter hl at 8, very small hl along edge near 11, absolutely minuscule edge nick under bezel at 3:30; excellent hands, seconds-hand has minor oxide; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, minuscule nick on band at 3:30, superb engraving detail; tight bow with some wear to brass, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
